THE MOTOR BUG

Attempt at a scenario, a bit science fiction, I will call it :<The Motor Bug>
For 7 days, there is no motor life, nothing functions, and the economy is about
to collapse. Only the computer still works.
Need to decide where this will happen, a city, a state or a country as from
there one will learn.

The date is July 7, 2007 or 7-7-07
At 7:07 am, anything and everything with a motor STOPS.
Cars, trucks, forklifts, airplanes, elevators, anything and everything that runs
on a motor does not function. A bug has affected all motors in an area.
PANIC
The world is at a stand still.

*Imagine people on highways stranded since their cars do not run. How will
everyone get to his or her destination
*Imagine airplanes about to take off, unable to do so.
*Imagine no ambulance to take a patient to a hospital

(I have a problem here with the planes in mid-air should motors stop
-Need to find a way for them not to crash for example that no plane was in the area affected by the bug

Since there is no trucks on the road, no delivery is made anywhere, and
stores and businesses do not get their goods. Within few days shelves are empty
By now those who have bicycles got them out for use, the same for horses.
People walk in the streets, people communicate with one another, something
they did not do much of previously.

This becomes the experience of a lifetime and people have to learn how to live without a motor
*Imagine no consumption of gas for 7 days. Gas companies will incur losses beyond their comprehension. Same for trucking companies, buses, taxis…
*Imagine the vandalism that will take place, though one can move items only by foot.
*Imagine 911 bombarded with hundreds if not thousands of calls to which there is nothing one can do since they cannot go to the place the call came from.

And now the tough one, most people cannot go to work meaning they cannot earn any revenue. How can they pay for all their necessities?

People are at a loss wondering what is happening to them. Many go back to their car to see if it now will function, to no avail. This bug will last 7 days.
But no one knows it.

When the rest of the world learns of what happens to the area hit by the motor Bug, they wish to offer their help. What they don't realize is that the bug is in the air of that part of the world and no trucks nor helicopters can work here regardless of what they try to do. One must resolve to have to live with it and change their habit and way of life.

At least two industries are doing well, hotels and restaurants. People stranded far from their home have no choice but go to the hotels, many wishing to be in the lower floors as who wants to climb 24 or 36 of them. As for restaurants, they have to walk to go get their food but soon that too may become scarce.

The computer industry that is still functioning is working day and night to find a solution to this drama. For it is a drama.
People do die and need to be evacuated from their home. A human chain is about to be born to come to the rescue of a population in dire straights.

After three days of this nightmare, realizing the impotence of the society around them, the victims decide that it is time they help one another, and land a hand. Since business has stopped in many aspects of daily life, people found out that being of help to his neighbor is the best way to achieve some peace of mind. The fact is so true, it is in misery, especially if it is common to all that humanity finds its true value.

By day 4, it is believed that this situation is going to last and if so we need to find a way to live without the MOTOR.
Parents will walk their kids to school. If work is not far they will walk to work People will economize in all they do.
No more waste of all sorts, for we know we are a wasteful society. What was taken for granted is now seen as something to cherish. Suddenly, we have respect for the other and for what we have.

By day 5, one realizes he can live without his car. He won't be able to go on vacation to Hawaii but he will make it in his own town. At least the phone is still working and it is a way to still communicate.

Those in the know, had an idea how to stop a motor if they wished. An electric charge can be directed towards the motor to burn the circuit as well as we are dealing with a single object. The operation is done by a burst of intensity.
Now we had to think of a reverse operation.

By day 6, buggies, horses and oxen are filling the streets and one would have thought that we were living in cow boys days. Some knew that a motor can be wound up with a spring to do small operation. The fact is that imagination was running high since no one knew when this dilemma was to end.

I now have to think of finding a hero who will take us out of this. And what comes to mind is an 'Indian', an American Indian, this last survivor of an ancient civilization that we unfortunately decimated.
It is like if I wanted to give credit to the old culture who can take us out of the mess we are in today. We all know than Indians lived well before the invention of the motor and they did not suffer from that gap. How can we restore an old existence to save our life?

AT this time another idea occurred to me, to write about another subject, I will call- LANDING GEAR JAM
To be found in another story under "sujets"

A third idea I the same vein, after cars and planes, now trains.
THE TRAIN THAT DOES NOT STOP
Imagine trains getting to a station but cannot stop, they just keep rolling while passengers wait to get out and others wait to get on.
