PRAISE FOR HUMILITY

What is humility if it is not the character of being humble, modest, without splendor. The word comes from the Latin 'humilis' meaning, 'low, close to the ground'.
In a word, it is a mark of respect.

It's about that sense of politeness, of our weakness, that makes us put aside our arrogance, our pride. I am talking about a voluntary abasement, a deference, even submission.

Yes, it seems that there is an insignificance, an inferiority, even a subjugation. And all this may seem very negative, but being respectful is rather positive. A phenomenon of humiliation is never seen negatively because it is not about penitence, indignation or mortification.

I do not explain, if you look closely, you realize how beneficial this attitude can be in the long run. That's why I could bring up so many quotes that will make this word pleasant.

Let's start with Nelson Mandela who said that "honesty, sincerity, simplicity, humility, generosity, absence of vanity, the ability to serve others - qualities that are within the reach of all souls - are the true foundations of our spiritual life.
Who can say it better? I like the fact that humility is one of these beautiful qualities.

Think of a person criticizing another person, I would like to suggest that they do so with humility and courtesy because humility makes us admit our limitations.
Can you imagine an intellectual without humility? He would be dangerous.

And now I find a positive side to it: humility is a noble quality that brings self-esteem and respect to others.
I discovered an Ovambo proverb (a Bantu ethnic group in Namibia) that simply says: 'Don't belittle the turtle because of its humility, it may lead you tomorrow.

To my great surprise, I just discovered a word that is out of the ordinary, something that no one can think of unless he is Friedrich Nietzsche: "The worm curls up when you step on it. It is full of wisdom. By this he reduces the chance of being stepped on again. In the language of morality: humility."

I liked this word from I don't know who, (and in saying this people
think I made it up and it happens to me often because indeed I like
to make things up): knowledge makes you great, but humility makes
you giant

I wish the world would stop for a few minutes and consider my point of view the next time it faces a serious situation and realize that sometimes you have to put aside your own interests, your own pride and listen to the other person who has a different point of view. Knowing how to listen is a form of humility. Why does he always have to be right? Why does he think he is superior?

It is unfortunate that human nature seems to prefer pride to humility. When we are humble, we are not aware of our humility. We must always cultivate hypocrisy. Why not think that for the human spirit humility can shine through its superiority?
