JUST LIKE THE BIRD THAT COMES TO ITS NEST IN SEARCH OF OBLIVION
I've just listened to this song and I don't know why it clicked inside me, as if I too were there, looking for something. It's true that we're all looking for something, even if it doesn't yet have a name, but we know it's there, so close, yet so far.
Am I comparing myself to the bird? Maybe So !
It spends its time flying from one place to another, and we do the same, either walking or driving. What's the difference? Maybe we don't know where we're going, but we think we know where we're going. But that same destination isn't always the one we want. We want more, we want different, because we're bored with our daily lives.
The question becomes: "Why are we so jaded?
That means bored, annoyed, disillusioned, cynical, exhausted... Why am I listing my problem? Because I feel my pain. Yes, it is! So, how do I get out of it? I'll ask the bird.
I've got into the habit of feeding him morning and afternoon. He must have told his friends that he's found someone who feeds him well. To the point where they always come in a group and I have enough food for them all. What can I learn from this situation? That birds communicate with each other? That they recognize the right place to be fed?
If the bird in the song is looking for oblivion, what am I looking for? It's funny, because in his case, oblivion is in his nest, and in mine, it would certainly be far from my nest or my bed. I'm always looking for explanations because I touch on many subjects that don't have easy answers for me. Yes, I'm also trying to fulfill a certain desire that seems to be just around the corner but that I can't reach.
I'll have to get used to it! Being content with what I've got, that's how you get rich. I learned this at an early age and have lived with it ever since. I've also learned that abundance isn't necessarily measured by the amount of money or possessions we accumulate over the course of our lives, but rather by the amount of passion, love and joy we feel.
I've also learned to appreciate what we have, rather than desiring what we don't have. This brings us peace and contentment, which is the secret of happiness.
And to think it was the bird that made me write these words. How can we not appreciate these little creatures that live with us all the time?
